Art and Culture Around Alberobello you can explore a fascinating region of the Basilicata, where the inhabitants still live much as they did half a century ago, surrounded by fields, olive groves, vineyards, and dry calcareous stones. This is where you will find Alberobello, Italy’s best-preserved Medieval town, dating from the eleventh century and now a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is situated at the top of a steep hill, which features many restaurants and shops selling the typical local products: pasta and olive oils, wine and wood products. The small, medieval center is a typical example of a village from the middle ages, where every house is connected by narrow alleyways full of little gardens and pomegranate trees. Weather The weather in the area where Alberobello is located varies throughout the year. In the summer the temperature can go up to 30 degrees Celsius, while in winter it can drop to -15. In the winter Alberobello is busy with tourists from all over the world, mostly Italians. WoWÂ .Pages Sunday, November 26, 2016 This week's edition of my used book swap goes to Johnny Chaney. While searching for a book on the sly, I've made a special trip to my local public library where I picked up my book. I was thrilled to find the book not too far from home, and was happy to see it was dog-eared, implying that the borrowers have been reading it for a while. It's funny when I'm on the hunt for a book, when there are so many things that I don't even want. Like Mockingjay? A middle grade breakdown? Are you kidding me? But sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. What's interesting is that I chose this particular book (the only book I received) because the cover artist, Neal Adams, was in town. I figured that he would find my take on how he does his work to be ironic, but I was wrong. My contention, which has been much discussed on the internet since he came to town, is that Neal Adams is creating the most outstanding images of his career. Check out The Adams Collection, which is a slick web-based exhibit of the man and his art. I'm sure I'll be sharing some of my thoughts on the book, but for now, let's get the swap out of the way. Here's what you sent me: While I was rifling through a box, I was amazed by my journal from 1979. I was researching a project and was planning to go find it while in D.C. I was going to post a picture of it, but it's really not a picture of it. It's a picture of it. The only way I can see it is to look through a small rectangle. That's it, there's no room for anything else. I wonder if those were the days when the Internet was just starting, or if it has always been like that. Here are the rest of the books I received: The Accidental Realist by Helen Shapiro In the Late Great State of Normal, Helen Shapiro weaves a strange, funny, and enlightening journey into contemporary art. Every work of art is an intersection of politics and the body; painting, sculpture, dance, and even ordinary photos have the power to reveal, distort, and alter our perceptions, and yet images and ideas persist in the minds of observers, memory and f30f4ceada
